ABOUT

Hi there! Welcome to my site. I am glad you stopped by. My name is Meredith Huntley; I am 28 years old, currently living in Charlotte, NC. I graduated from the Medical Sonography Program at South Piedmont Community College in 2016. I am passionate about my Christian walk, living life to the fullest, working hard, and keeping a positive outlook. I originally found interest in sonography when I began to seek out options in the medical field and received a brochure for the Medical Sonography Program at SPCC in the mail.

I grew up on 12 acres with horses, a few dogs, and more cats than you could count right outside of Charlotte, NC. I am one of five girls, so growing up my life was never short of drama! I was homeschooled through highschool by my mother. Upon graduating from highschool, I took my first job as a secretary for a family business. After 5 years of administrative work, I began to find myself looking for my next challenge, so that is where I began my search into the medical field. I am excited to watch my dreams of becoming a sonographer become a reality.

Life for me is very busy, but I like it that way. I enjoy hard work and a good challenge. Working hard to stay organized, learn new things, as well as being successful is a challenge I enjoy tackling. I am a dedicated student and employee, working hard to achieve success in whatever the task may be. I am a visual learner who enjoys "hands-on" work, so I feel that sonography is a great field for me.

In my spare time I enjoy yoga, working out at 9round Dilworth, Saturdays catching up on TV shows, hiking, spending time outdoors, shopping, and hanging out with friends and family.

My plan after graduating from the Medical Sonography program is to first become a successful sonographer. I plan to be a diligent and dependable employee, working my way up the ladder and in the future continuing my career by pursuing my passion of pregnancy, children, and helping others by becoming a sonographer for a high-risk pregnancy center. I know that my future is going to take lots of hard work and dedication and I am more than ready for the challenge!

Mission and Philosophy

GOALS

Short-Term Goals:

  • I plan to take as many classes as necessary in order to complete my prerequisites in 3 years. In order to accomplish this goal I will be taking night classes while working full-time. Spring 2011-2013

  • Keep up my friendships while in school. Many of my friends are in different phases of life, so this will take effort on my part. My friendships are valuable to me and worth the time and effort.

    • To do this I will reach out to friends for dinner, or a movie randomly during my slower weeks of school.

SPCC Goals:

  • Do what it takes to get into the Medical Sonography Program by May 2014.

  • Apply for admission into the Medical Sonography Program Spring 2014.

  • Once in I plan to work hard in order of learning the essential skills of becoming a successful sonographer by May 11, 2016.

  • Be an A+ student during my (2) yrs in the program - Spring 2014/Spring 2016.

  • Stay on top of assignments and due dates so that I do not get overwhelmed and can be a successful student by keeping a daily planner with assignments that are due.

Personal & Social Goals:

  • Continue working out + staying active to better my mental and physical state while in school - 2014-2016.

  • One must never be too busy to travel, so I plan to work in short trips and travel during breaks and time off from school.

  • I plan to work hard to better my education and become successful for my future self and family. I know that my hard work will pay off, so I plan to stay positive and dedicated during my time as a sonography student.

Long-Term Goals:

  • I have a love for children, pregnancy, and helping people, so I want to combine these passions and become a high-risk pregnancy sonographer - 2019.

  • Travel to all 50 states before I am 50. In order of accomplishing a few in one trip I plan to rent an RV and road-trip across the country.

  • Adoption is huge on my heart, I plan to adopt at least one child in my future, after marriage.

  • Mission trips and travel feed my soul, I hope to be able to use my skills as a Sonographer to help those less fortunate in the years to come. To do so I will plan (1) trip per year.

  • Once I complete school and have more time on my hands I would like to become more involved with my community, by volunteering. Possibly in a local orphanage, or with underprivileged children - minimum of twice a month.

  • Become a blogger. Not positive of what exactly I would like to blog about most. To list a few ideas; personal (my journey), inspirational, or maybe even a fashion blog.

Setting goals has been a pattern throughout my life not only with school and work, but also in my personal life. These goals helped me during my time at SPCC as I went from a small seed into a beautiful blooming flower. I really like the challenge of dreaming up new ideas and goals as well as the process to achieving them. Something about setting a goal and then achieving it is both rewarding and freeing.
